Personal Information
We don’t collect personally identifiable information (PII) about you unless you choose to share it—via a contact form, email, phone call, newsletter sign-up, or in person.
Any details you provide are used only for the purpose you supplied them.
PII includes details like your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number. If you’re contacting us as a business, it may also include your trading name, ABN, or business registration number.
We might request this information to respond to your enquiry or provide a service.
We’ll never sell, rent, or share your information outside Big Volcano® unless:
- You’ve given your permission
- It’s needed to deliver a service via a trusted contractor or agent
- We’re required by law

Collecting Information

Hotjar helps us understand how visitors use our site—such as how long you stay on a page or which links you click. It uses cookies and similar technologies to collect data, stored in a pseudonymised way. Neither Hotjar nor we use this to personally identify you.

Intuit Mailchimp
We use Mailchimp (part of Intuit) for email newsletter sign-ups, specifically for updates to our weekly markets directory. Our sign-up forms are GDPR-compliant.
Mailchimp uses tools like web beacons to track email opens, clicks, IP addresses, and times—helping us improve communications.
If you haven’t signed up, this doesn’t apply.

Stay22
Our Booking.com and Wotif links are redirected via Stay22.com, which uses cookies and tracking tools to gather:
- Travel sites visited after clicking a link
- Whether a booking was completed
- Booking type, value, duration, and party size
Stay22 uses this information for referral tracking and service improvement. We don’t receive any personally identifiable data from Stay22.
Ko-fi Donations
We accept support through Ko-fi.com, where you can donate, tip, or subscribe. You may see a Ko-fi button or link in articles, emails, or social media posts.

Google Services
We use:
- Google AdSense – to display ads
- Google Analytics – to understand how the site is used
- YouTube embeds – for videos
AdSense uses cookies to display relevant ads based on browsing activity. Clicking an ad may result in a small commission for us.
By default, Google shows personalised ads unless you opt out. You can manage your ad settings or read Google’s Advertising Privacy page.
Google Analytics helps us measure site performance without tracking you personally. We’ve set data retention to 14 months and turned off remarketing features.
YouTube videos may set cookies to track views anonymously.
To meet EU requirements, we use Clickio Consent, a certified Consent Management Platform that lets you manage cookie preferences clearly and legally.
