Turner gives up executive chairman role

Flight Centre Limited founder Graham Turner is relinquishing his executive chairman role in order to focus on his managing director duties.

Non-executive director Bruce Brown will now lead the board as non-executive chairman.

Turner, who became executive chairman after Norman Fussell retired in July, said that separating the roles of chairman and managing director would deliver a more effective overall management structure and was in line with corporate governance recommendations.

“Bruce has the skills required to take the company forward as chairman,” Turner said. “He has a wealth of experience as a public company chief executive, proven leadership skills and a record of success, having transformed Campbell Brothers into a diverse, multinational operation during his time with the company.”

Brown joined Flight Centre’s board in December 2005 after retiring as chief executive and managing director of Campbell Brothers. He is a non-executive director of Campbell Brothers, Transpacific Industries Group and Phi Capital.
