ANA first in Asia with high-speed web links

ANA will become the first Asian carrier to offer Connexion by Boeing’s high-speed in-flight Internet and email services this month.

The Japanese carrier will install the technology in its first B777-300ER aircraft which is due to start service on November 15 between Tokyo and Shanghai.

ANA passengers will be able to access the web using their own laptops via a wired or wireless link in first, business and premium economy. Wireless access will also be available to economy class passengers.

The service will cost a flat rate of USD19.95 per flight, or USD7.95 for the first 30 minutes and 25 US cents for each additional minute.

Rival Japan Airlines is not far behind, with plans to introduce Connexion services on December 9 on flights between Tokyo and London.
